Wait Here 02:09
Everyday it lasts a little longer June and May the suns a little stronger With friends like these who needs enemies Shackleton's disease Wait right here Joyride feeling back through North Arlington Take a ride and hey do you wanna come With pills like these, who needs remedies We've all had days like these We've all had days Never needed a hatchet to break the ice before Wait until the Shackleton's, they say go Wait here. Everything is here.

Anything short of a smother party, she ain't satisfied Woke up in the hands of a tin pan arty, she ain't far behind When you put bells in the hands of alarmist, you don't no rest Button down guilt with anxiety, put it to the test Every conviction is just an affliction Every relation is strange There will come a day, today Heavy rotation on a cable station Every engagement you've made. Woke up on the way to my love today She ain't satisfied Woke up on the way to my love today She can't run and hide Every conviction is just an affliction Every relation is strange There will come a day, today All broken hearted and dearly departed I'm being smothered today. Today.

He said I found the way to decide, the questions that she said With tigers in their bed Went up to the room, flipped a million coins He said I found the words to remember He tries to speak them slow But they refuse to show Now he can't explain why he's not the same He's lost along the way.

And the street said it'll break your arm That's the way to make a scene A dozen roses in a jar At a B and B on a farm On sheep shearing day You wanna have sex in the car You wanna break a broken heart You wanna skeet shoot shooting stars You wanna be my baby please Down upon your knees And pray to god I leave And the bed said come lay your head Likes the hospital cornered sheets But the blanket disagrees It's on the floor and cannot see The ghost of love we made And all the cheap shots that we take And all the baby's that we bait And the hips that move and sway You wanna be my baby please Toss this ball and run Heavy as the sun

about

Jeff left us way too early in 2014. A few weeks before he left, we had been making plans to record more songs together. The plan was to release an lp of new songs. I was unemployed at the time and partially moving out of my house. We had planned to bring in some recording equipment and record in the empty rooms of my house.

Leading up tp that, Jeff had finished mixing down a song I had written that we recorded together. Wait Here was an instrumental song I had back in 2007 that was sort of rejected by the band I was in at the time. I usually only have music down, I'm not too big on lyrics. Jeff liked the rough demo I made and asked if we could record it. In 2007 we laid down a guitar and drum track in his house. We also recorded guitar and drums for two other ideas he was working on. We then went on and lived life for a while. We played two or three shows together in between those times, always saying we need to get together and record more ideas and complete a full lp.

Around the beginning of 2014 we started talking a lot on social media and through texts. We met up and I recorded drums for a song Sheep Shearing Day he was working on in NYC. He then gave me copies of the four ideas we had recorded guitar and drums for but they were completed. He had Dave Della Fera add bass to the tracks and added other instruments and vocals. He even wrote lyrics for my song and titled it Wait Here. It was the first one of my songs that actually sounded and became a reality to play in a band. To collaborate with Jeff is the most exciting thing I have ever done. Being a few years older, he was a legend to us in our teens. He was cooler and more talented than anyone we knew and actually had a 7" out before all of us. He was super happy with the mixes and was really motivated to record more for a full lp. We began making plans to build a make shift studio in my half abandoned house and started to work on a schedule.

Right at that time, I went on a cross country drive with my family for about 3 weeks. We spoke and said we would start recording upon my return. Driving back, I was excited to get started preparing for the recording. About a week after my return, the tragedy happened. Still one of the worst moments I've ever experienced in my life.

These are the four songs that we had discussed including on the lp. I am not sure how or when he finished them or his own personal story for each of them. I know my drum parts were recorded in between 2007 and 2008. I love these songs. I always thought we worked well together and was always hopeful to be on a lp or 7" with him. He was always really supportive of my creative ideas and we always had a good time. Forever two milk.

Recorded in Jeff's basement and in NYC. All songs by Jeff Humphrey except 'Wait Here' by Scott Bolasci and Jeff Humphrey
